Snapshot of...Madeira
Although small, Madeira is packed with mountainous slopes, cavernous valleys and lush flora. Funchal is an impressive city offering magnificent views over the Atlantic Ocean. To the east of the island, at Ponta de São Lourenço lies a nature reserve offering spectacular volcanic rock formations and panoramic views of the Atlantic. Go hiking in the interior and admire the aqueduct systems built in the 1900s to transport water from the mountains to the fields.
