Australia and New Zealand

Everything you may have heard about Australia and New Zealand is true. And then some. Yes, there really are miles upon miles of wide, empty beaches. Yes, fjords with impossibly large cliffs do plunge hundreds of feet into the sea. And yes, there are plenty of kangaroos hopping around the place. OK, so it may be as far as you can get from home, but once you arrive you'll soon see there's not much about this place that's anything like home.

When to go?

Summer is winter and winter is summer. Sort of. Australia peak season is their winter (July to September). Try to get there in the autumn when it's not too hot in the north, and it starts to warm up in the south. January to April are best for New Zealand: not too much rain and still warm enough for a t-shirt.
