Palermo
There's a real pick 'n mix of Byzantine, Arab, Norman, Renaissance and baroque styles to be found in palaces, churches and castles. And that delectable Sicilian food? Well, that alone is worth coming here for.
Catania
Do something different: stay on a volcano. For this is where Catania is located, on Mt Etna's slopes. Take a peek at the active peak, head down to the sea, explore the historic city, or visit nearby Taormina.
